Amanda Ross-Ho: Untitled T-Shirt, (NONAGENARIAN), 2018
On view in the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel lobby from September 27 – October 25 will be a very special installation featuring one of Amanda Ross-Ho’s renowned large-scale T-Shirt works, in celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th Anniversary. The work pays homage to one of the world’s most widely recognized apparel items, the iconic Mickey Mouse T-Shirt and its long-standing status in pop culture.
After the installation closes in Chicago, the artwork will travel to New York City where it will be on display from November 2018 – February 2019 at “Mickey: The True Original Exhibition,” an immersive art experience inspired by Mickey’s status as a ‘true original’ & his consistent impact on the arts in all its forms. Curated by artist Darren Romanelli, aka DRx, the exhibit will feature original works from top contemporary artists including Amanda Ross-Ho, Kenny Scharf and Shinique Smith. About Amanda Ross-Ho
Amanda Ross-Ho holds a BFA from the School of the Art institute of Chicago and an MFA from the Roski School of Art, University of Southern California. She has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally. Solo exhibitions include Cherry and Martin, Los Angeles, Hoet Bekaert, Belgium,The Pomona Museum of Art, Mitchell-Innes and Nash New York, The Visual Arts Center, Austin, TX, Shane Campbell Gallery, Chicago, The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, Vleeshal Center for Contemporary Art, Middelburg, Netherlands, the Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn, Germany, The Approach, London, and Praz-Delavallade, Paris. Ross-Ho’s work has been featured in Artforum, The New York Times, ArtReview, Modern Painters, Art in America, Flash Art, Art + Auction, and Frieze among others. She is an Assistant Professor of Sculpture at the University of California, Irvine. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
