Nathaniel Russell “Slow Comet” Exhibition in Drawing Room

Land and Sea Dept. and the Chicago Athletic Association are pleased to display the work of Indianapolis-based artist Nathaniel Russell. This collection of Russell’s work, entitled “Slow Comet,” will be on display in the hotel’s Drawing Room from April 10 through June 30.

Russell was born and raised in Indiana, where he attended Ball State University and graduated with a BFA in printmaking. After college, Russell spent several years in the Bay Area making posters, record covers, and woodcuts. This time in California informed Russell’s current work; he’s now living in his home city of Indianapolis, where he creates fake fliers and books, wood cut-outs, drawings, music, and more.

Though his pieces vary in medium, humor and sincerity are a constant thread running through Russell’s art. His work is regularly shown around the world in both traditional galleries and informal spaces, usually surrounded by an expanding list of friends, collaborators, and like-minded folk.
