Artist Reception: Caroline Walp
Join us for a reception celebrating our new exhibition, a series of stone lithograph collages, by artist Caroline Walp. The exhibition is on display at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel inside the Fine Art Case in the second floor lobby.
Caroline Walp is a visual artist and educator working primarily in printmaking and drawing. Her work explores the intricacies of personal domestic spaces and objects, as well as outdoor environments. Through the tedious process of stone lithography and the production of images that often include repetitive patterns and exaggerated tones, these spaces simultaneously feel more intimate and more detached from their original context once the print is complete. A familiar environment or scene is reduced to lines, shapes, and shadows resulting in images that can feel both calm and chaotic.
