Cherry Circle Room Winemaker Dinner

Cherry Circle Room and wine director Andrew Algren are pleased to welcome lauded wine writer John Haeger and winemaker Morten Hallgren for a Riesling Seminar Dinner, taking place on September 12 at Cherry Circle Room. The dinner will showcase wines from Ravines alongside wines from Weingut Malat in Austria’s Kremstal region.

Morten Hallgren is the owner of Ravines Wine Cellars, a boutique winery in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Together with his wife Lisa, Morten has created a distinctive winery crafting elegant and food friendly wines using Old World winemaking techniques helmed from his family’s winemaking business in the South of France. John Haeger is an historian, educator, administrator and wine writer who just released his third wine-focused book – Riesling Rediscovered: Bold, Bright, and Dry. Michael Malat, Weingut Malat’s 9th-generation winemaker, will not be present, but John will introduce the Malat Rieslings, atypically low in alcohol, bright with acid, intensely flavored and very dry — parameters which complement the Ravines wines in fascinating ways.

Morten and John’s wine selections will be paired with a four course dinner menu from Cherry Circle Room’s Executive Chef Pete Coenen. They’ll guide guests through the pairings alongside wine director Andrew Algren in an intimate and rare opportunity to speak with some of the country’s foremost Riesling experts.
