Children’s Holiday Storytelling: Saints and Spells

December 11, 2016 10:00 am - 11:00 am Drawing Room

Join us in the Drawing Room Library where we’ve invited friends of all ages to enjoy a special series of our regularly scheduled Storytelling hour.  As families get together for the Holidays, reading stories has often become a valuable tradition.  We’ve invited the bright Angela James in to play music and tell holiday tales celebrating the diverse world we live in.

  • Santa Lucia brings light to the cold winter night, and St. Nicholas brings gifts – but that’s not all they bring. Learn about the light and dark sides of your favorite Christmas characters through stories and songs, in the third installment of the Children’s Storytelling series.

All are welcome to attend Storytelling, free of charge. Seating is limited and first come, first served.  For purchase, we’re pleased to offer Milk and Cookie service for children and a special warm libation for adults.

Angela James’ voice has been called “smoldering and gorgeous” by the Chicago Reader and her songwriting “something truly special” by the Chicago Tribune. Her debut full length album, Way Down Deep, was released in November 2014 and the follow-up, Time Will Tell, in March 2016. Both widely-praised records feature James collaborating with musicians from Chicago’s improvising community along with her partner Jordan Martins and drummer Charles Rumback. She has taught children’s music at the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Green Bean Day School and performs regularly for patients at Comer Chidren’s Hospital, Lurie Children’s Hospital, and Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
