Featherproof Press Storytelling with Tortoise guitarist Douglas McCombs

November 22, 2015 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Drawing Room

According to its mission statement, Chicago’s Featherproof Books publishes strange and beautiful fiction and nonfiction and post-, trans-, and inter-genre tragicomedy. The Featherproof podcast, hosted by publisher Tim Kinsella, expands on this sensibility by interviewing guests that we know to have interesting stories whether or not they identify as writers or artists or performers or exist as public figures in any way. We know that everyone has a story and we aim to help them release it.
Douglas McCombs has been playing music in Chicago for 35 years. Most of the bands he plays in are over 20 years old; Eleventh Dream Day, Tortoise, Brokeback, the Sea and Cake. In addition he has played as a sideman performing live and or recording with Yo La Tengo, Calexico, Nobakazu Takemura, Azita Youssefi, Tom Ze’, Daniel Lanois, School of Language, Akito Katayose and Rhys Chatham among others.
