(Sold Out) Field Trip: Warhol Polaroid Archive at the Museum of Contemporary Photography
This event has sold out.
Learn more about the hotel’s full lineup of Warhol-inspired programs
Join us for a Field Trip to the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) for an exclusive look at Polaroids taken by Andy Warhol, normally stored in the MoCP’s vault. Though most known for his screenprints and paintings, photography was an integral part of Warhol’s practice as an artist and his Polaroids were often used as the original source material for his works in other mediums.
This “behind-the-scenes” look offers guests an opportunity to peer beyond the final product. An MoCP Curatorial Assistant will lead a discussion on Warhol’s approaches to photography, viewing some of the 160 works by Warhol in the MoCP’s permanent collection, and specifically focusing on images of Cindy Pritzker used for the portrait painting on display at Cindy’s Rooftop.
We’ll then walk back to Cindy’s atop our hotel and view the original Warhol portrait of the restaurant’s namesake, while enjoying our limited release Warhol-inspired cocktail, “The Story of Moondog.”
Field Trip Schedule
4:45PM(Optional) — Meet at the In The Know Desk on the ground floor of the Chicago Athletic Association (12 S. Michigan Ave.) & walk as a group to the MoCP
5:00PM — Meet at the MoCP (600 S. Michigan Ave.) & enjoy time to explore the museum. The current exhibition, Third Realm, presents works by artists who use photography, film, installation, and performance to investigate liminal spaces.

6:00PM — We’ll head back to the hotel and up to Cindy’s Rooftop for a viewing of our Warhol original portrait of Cindy Pritzker & enjoy our limited release Warhol-inspired cocktail
During the month of November, take part in our series of programs that draw inspiration from Andy Warhol and Pop Art. The artist’s major retrospective, “Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again” is currently on view at the Art Institute of Chicago.
The Museum of Contemporary Photography
The MoCP is the world’s premier college art museum dedicated to photography. As an international hub, we generate ideas and provoke dialogue among students, artists and diverse communities through groundbreaking exhibitions and programming. Our mission is to cultivate a deeper understanding of the artistic, cultural and political roles of photography in our world today.
“The Story of Moondog” – Bourbon, Applejack, Pineapple Brandy, Purple Sweet Potato, Rare Tea Cellars Triple xxx Cinnamon, Citrus.
This cocktail is inspired by an album cover Warhol created for recording artist, Moondog.
Throughout his career, Andy Warhol crafted clever album covers for some 60 records over the span of 40 years. Andy had his mother write out a previously scripted eulogy for Moondog in her handwriting which he then cut and paste to fit onto the album cover. To honor this sought-after skill, Cindy’s will offer a cocktail inspired by a different Warhol album cover each month of the Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again exhibit.
