Foodieodicals Pop-Up Shop
The Food Book Fair, Madison Hall, and Land and Sea Dept. are excited to collaborate on the first-ever physical Foodieodicals pop-up shop, happening in Chicago during the James Beard Foundation Awards. Headquartered at the Chicago Athletic Association hotel, the pop-up will take place the weekend of April 30 and May 1, the same weekend that the Food Book Fair is happening in New York City.
Now in its fifth year, the annual Food Book Fair is part conference, part festival; a celebration of food culture and media through panel discussions, demos, dinners, screenings and more. The Foodieodicals ‘zine fest has been part of the fair since 2012, shining a light on indie food magazines and celebrating their makers and readers.
Land and Sea Dept. and Madison Hall boutique (neighbors in the Chicago Athletic Association hotel with a common love of printed media, design, and food), were inspired by what their friends in New York were doing with the Food Book Fair and decided to join forces to bring Foodieodicals to life in Chicago during the James Beard Foundation Awards. Madison Hall, located on the ground floor of the CAA, will transform into a Foodieodicals pop-up from April 27 to May 4th. A wide range of indie food publications will be available, ranging from Lucky Peach and Cherry Bombe to smaller imprints like Mouthfeel and Noble Rot.
The shop will expand to the second floor Drawing Room of the Chicago Athletic Association from noon – 6pm on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, where Land and Sea Dept. will have their range of cocktails and snacks available, as well as some curated ‘zine packs.
