Official Release Party: For The Throne

April 9, 2019 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Game Room

This is it. Winter is here, the wall has fallen, and the final battle for Westeros is underway. We are teaming up with the Chicago Brewseum and Brewery Ommegang to host the official release party of Ommegang’s limited edition and final Game of Thrones-inspired beer, For the Throne.

Tucked behind our Venetian Gothic facade lies Game Room, a playfully restored piece of history awaiting your arrival. Complementing a full evening of free festivities, Ommegang Brewery will be onsite to fill your goblet with a sample of the highly-anticipated release, For The Throne – while supplies last!

This event is free and open to the public.

Schedule of Festivities

Throughout the evening:
Historians Corner: Liz Garibay of the Chicago Brewseum and Lucas Livingston of the Art Institute of Chicago will offer brief 10 minute history talks that explore Medieval era drinking culture.

*Grain & Grape – Mixed fermented beverages through time, they’re historic!
*Witchy Woman – The story of alewives, beer brewing, witchcraft and burning at the stake. Ouch!

7-8pm:

For The Throne
Complex and compelling, yet delicate and refined, For the Throne is our tribute to the final occupant of the Iron Throne. This strong golden ale is co-fermented with Pinot Grigio and Viognier grape juices, then bottle conditioned with Champagne yeast. The beer pours a striking golden copper with a fluffy white head. Aromas of honeysuckle and toasted grain mingle with notes of pear and apricot. The finish is clean and dry, with vibrant effervescence. For the Throne is an ale fit for royalty.

Chicago Brewseum Beer History + Culture Project
This event is part of the Beer History + Culture Project, a two-year national collaboration dedicated to highlighting, preserving, and celebrating beer history and culture and building national support for the Chicago Brewseum.
