In The Name Of Cindy! A Turning Table Tradition This Mother’s Day
Cindy’s atop the Chicago Athletic Association hotel (12 S. Michigan Ave.), whose namesake herself was mother to 5 Pritzkers, celebrates its first Mother’s Day this year with a spin on the weekly Soul Sunday tradition at the restaurant. Resident Soul Sunday DJ, Dave Mata, turns the tables over to his own mother on Sunday, May 8, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. during brunch. Marlene “Mama” Mata (DJ Mama Mata), who has been at Dave’s side every Sunday, shares her infectious and soulful spirit with Sunday brunchers at Cindy’s, not only to celebrate and honor Ms. Cindy Pritzker but all moms this Mother’s Day. For reservations, call 312.792.3502 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Mom Libs” Presented by the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel
In honor of Mothers near and far, the Chicago Athletic Association hotel invites guests to experience a modern spin on how to say “Thanks, Mom” on Sunday, May 8. Starting in the second floor Drawing Room from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., guests can try their hand at an inventive way to thank their mother with “Mom-Libs.” Equipped with expertly designed fill-in-the-blank Mad Libs postcards, writing stations will be set up for inspired visitors to put pen to paper on a playful spin of the beloved Mad Lib. Ask Mom for the adjectives in person, or give her a call on one of the Chicago Athletic Association hotel’s old timey telephones at the Mad Libs station to have her fill it out sight unseen. Guests can then drop the Mom-Libs into the hotel’s postbox to be sent out to mom, sure to surprise and delight her in the week to follow.
