New School P.E. joins #sweatworkingweek
New School P.E. returns this summer, in partnership with aSweatLife for the grand finale of their week-long fitness celebration #sweatworkingweek. Join us for the latest iteration of New School P.E. in Stagg Court and the Closing Pep Rally for #sweatworkingweek!
Here’s the game plan:
Break it down with 305 Fitness | 5:30-6:20pm: Hailing from New York City, 305 Fitness is a dance class that is for you, especially if you’ve ever said that phrase, “I’m not a dancer.” It’s as much community as it is class. It’s a safe space where inhibitions are released, freak flags fly, and open-minded people meet while getting stronger and happier. In an industry obsessed with scales and calories, 305 Fitness is all about twerking hard while loving and appreciating our bodies exactly the way they are.
Bend it up with Y7 Yoga | 6:30-7:20pm: At Y7, you’ll flow through sequences with intention, braiding postures together that will open, stretch, and restore your body from the inside-out. Peel back the layers through a smart and safe yoga sequence, carefully choreographed to music that ranges from Cardi B to A Tribe Called Quest. Come to class with an open mind, stripped of all expectations, and take an hour-long vacation of body exploration, transformation and movement.
Pep Rally: We’re throwing an old-school pep rally to cheer on all the hard work #sweatworkers put in over the week. Guests will receive a beer from Michelob Ultra, get down to a surprise musical performance, and enjoy healthy bites from aSweatLife partners.
About New School P.E.
The whistle dangling around the teacher’s neck. Wood floors beneath your sneakered feet. The thrill of just playing. That’s where New School P.E. comes in, a recreational partnership between A Sweat Life and the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, bringing back the nostalgia of elementary school gym class with a new-school flair. New School P.E. class combines old school fun with some of the things we love from adulthood: good music, cool instructors, and cold beer.
Twice a year, aSweatLife puts their heads together to create a schedule of workouts that entices Chicagoans to try new things and meet new people, all while working out across the city. Each time we host #SweatworkingWeek, it changes, it evolves. As we started planning the seventh edition of #Sweatworking Week, we wanted to reconnect to those roots: trying new things, yes, but more importantly, seeking out FUN ways to move. And so, we set out to plan this June 2019 #SweatworkingWeek around the theme of “for the FUN of it.”
You’ll find workouts that don’t necessarily feel like workouts when you’re doing them (hi, tennis social), or recreational activities that are so fun, you don’t even notice how much you’re sweating (like, say, a morning of Rollerblading). This ticket – like the rest of the tickets during #SweatworkingWeek June 9-14, 2019 – signifies a workout that’s not only sure to be an excellent fitness experience, it’s been aSweatLife-approved as a workout we all want to do “for the fun of it!”
