Queens on Wheels: Rollerskating returns

September 8, 2017 5:00 pm - September 10, 2017 11:45 pm Stagg Court

Trade in your heels for a set of wheels, and join in on a session (or more!) honoring “Queens on Wheels,” the influential individuals of all shapes, colors and sizes who’ve defined the times and inspire us today. Dressing up to fully embrace your favorite Queen is highly encouraged. Purchase tickets below and enter to win a pair of tickets with DO312!

FRIDAY 9/8/17 Session One: “Peach” | 7-9PM
Peach is a pop-up party series dedicated to empowering LGBTQ+ women and femmes. Skate to the sounds of DJ Cut Cuz – the first female to graduate from Scratch DJ Academy in 2013 – who hails from Chicago’s west side and is everyone’s favorite cousin. Don’t miss your chance to see her throw it down, alongside a special performance by Jazleen Hunter. This peachy skate takeover will be extra sweet and juicy- a flavor you just can’t forget!  Co-curated by CPR & Events.

Session Two: “Femme’s Room” | 10-12AM
Voted Chicago Reader’s #1 LGBTQ Dance Party 2017, Femme’s Room is here to celebrate all identities and forms of femininity and femme expression. Sexy house music from DJ Harry Cross, paired with some sensual hosts from Chicago’s diverse nightlife community and a late night performance by Eva Styles, will surely have you skating in circles! Co-curated by CPR & Events.

SATURDAY 9/9/17 Session One: “Bey Skate” | 630-830PM
Queen Beyonce and the leading ladies of music from the 2000s till now fill the room and your soul whether you’re Drunk In Love or a Single Lady.

Session Two: “Whip it to Whitney” | 930-1130PM
Big hair and bigger attitudes. Sing along to the divas of 70s, 80s, and 90s wearing shoulders – if you Wanna Dance with Somebody, this is the night for you.

SUNDAY 9/10/17 Session One: “Every Queen needs a Pop King” | 5-7PM
Don’t stop us now, cause we’re havin’ a good time. A queen can embody every body; join in on this session if you want to groove to power pop kings who aren’t afraid to reign like royalty.

Session Two: “Head Over Heels” | 8-10PM
Mamma Mia! The fun goes On and On and On in our final skate session of the weekend. Be sure to bring your ‘A-GAME,’ dancing queen.

A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Transformative Justice Law Project, a local group of activists, social workers, and organizers who provide support and advocacy to transgender people in Illinois.

The weekend skate series – set inside the hotel’s historic full-size basketball court – pays homage to the timeless, sport-centric nature of the former club that once occupied the space, while celebrating the hotel’s spirit of inclusive programming that highlights Chicago’s vibrant culture.
