Storytelling Series: Heritage Bikes

June 4, 2016 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Drawing Room

Join us June 4th in our Drawing Room for the next installment of our Storytelling Series.

This round, we’re bringing in partners of the Chicago Athletic Association hotel, Heritage Bikes!  The shop partners with us to provide guests of the hotel one-of-a-kind bicycles, including two amazing tandems, to see the local sights about town in style. Alan and Derek from Heritage will be discussing some Chicago and beyond bicycle history, as well as providing us with a live demo featuring one of their bicycles.

Alan Gagne is a lifelong recreational bike rider and creative spirit. He is a founding employee of Heritage Bicycles with focus on creating community and culture in the bike scene. Gange is a coffee enthusiast, cocktail connoisseur, and photo-taker in his free time.
Derek Lewis is an avid rider and racer. Technical guru on all things cycle related. Lewis is the bicycle operations director at Heritage Bicycles.

About Heritage Bikes: website

Their commitment is first and foremost to customer satisfaction, but they also emphasize eco-friendly transportation and local manufacturing and are proud to be the first completely Chicago-made bike since Schwinn production left the city in the ’70s. Heritage is a mash-up of two concepts and cultures that really go hand in hand: bikes and coffee. If you’ve never thought to pair the two, don’t worry, they’re there making sense of it from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Whether you’ve come in to fix a flat, to grab a latte or a new Yakkay helmet, they are available to make you feel at home in Chicago’s original bike café.

About the Storytelling Series:

The Chicago Athletic Association Storytelling Series shares compelling stories and interviews from some of the Chicago’s most interesting and inspiring movers, shakers and visitors. From artists, musicians, innovators, adventurers and visionaries with a great story to tell – the series gives an inside look into the experiences, moments and memories that have shaped the speakers, their work and their lives. CAA is known for its rich history, and while the walls can’t talk, the Storytelling Series continues the tradition of welcoming Chicago’s finest talent into its halls to make lasting memories. Only now, we’ll record and share those moments so worth remembering.
