Fireside with: TENCI
This winter, Local Universe presents a series of cozy fireside concerts in the Drawing Room Library. For December’s show, we’re pleased to welcome TENCI, the bedroom-folk project of Jess Shoman.
Tenci, the bedroom-folk project of Jess Shoman, began in 2018. Named after Jess Shoman’s grandmother and kindred spirit, Hortencia, Tenci’s debut album, My Heart Is An Open Field, shook the scene with a sound both raw and tender, spontaneous and measured. Shoman’s sweet and shaky vibrato floods audiences with the gentle ache of dormant memories. The depth and playfulness of their music will make audiences feel even bigger and full of life. Currently, Tenci consists of Chicago musicians Curt Oren, Isabel Reidy (Izzy True), and Joseph Farago (Joey Nebulous).
