Johalla Projects and the Chicago Athletic Association are pleased to present the work of Chicago-based artist Stephen Eichhorn. This collection of Eichhorn’s works — entitled “The Flower Knows” — will be on display in the hotel’s Drawing Room from September 1 through November 25th.

While Eichhorn is known for his intricately detailed two-dimensional works, “The Flower Knows” is comprised of four new sculptures created exclusively for the Drawing Room. He explores shape and form with nods to ritual and nature while simultaneously drawing inspiration from the architectural details throughout the original woodwork of the Chicago Athletic Association. The freestanding objects are made from vintage found jewelry components considerately arranged much in the same way that Eichhorn approaches his undulating, lush plant collages. Here, the black blooms and shapes are more tangible, elegantly cascading and intertwining.
